The mission of St. Anthony School is to spread the Gospel message and to promote a sound Catholic education to the children who are committed to our care. We are dedicated to helping prepare our children to become productive and responsible participants in our ever-changing community.
St. Anthony School is a Catholic Elementary School located at 900 Franklin Street in old Gretna. A dedicated lay faculty staffs the school. It provides quality education for students in Preschool 4 through Grade 7. As students progress through the grades, their educational experiences include traditional learning as well as modern technology. The school has modern science and computer labs. In addition to computers in every classroom, students are encouraged to develop to their potential through academics as well as through programs such as extracurricular activities and the guidance programs.
St. Anthony School is a fully accredited school and has served the Westbank community since 1954. St. Anthony holds membership in the National Catholic Education Association, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Middle School Association, the Louisiana Middle School Association, the Archdiocesan Middle School Association, Citizens for Educational Freedom and the Early Childhood Association.
St. Anthony's small student body of approximately 290 students provides an ideal opportunity for individual student growth. As a Catholic school, all personnel strive to help students live their Catholic faith. The pastor of St. Anthony Parish is Rev. Gary Copping. Ms. Jo Anna Russo is the principal. The faculty includes many experienced teachers, giving St. Anthony wonderful stability and an excellent learning environment.
